BRUTAL ASSAULT 2026
The 29th edition of the extreme music festival at Fortress Josefov with over 150 bands. Headliners include Body Count, Periphery, Primus, Wardruna and Cradle of Filth.
Wardruna is a Norwegian musical project founded in Bergen in 2003 by Einar Selvik (Kvitrafn), Gaahl, and Lindy-Fay Hella. The group builds its sound around Norse mythology, runic traditions, and nature, drawing on historical Scandinavian instruments - deer-hide drums, lur, tagelharpa, kraviklyra - alongside natural sound sources such as trees, rocks, and water. They reached a global audience through their contributions to the TV series Vikings and the video game Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Their sixth studio album, Birna (2025), was followed by an extensive world tour taking in venues from the Royal Albert Hall to the Amphitheatre of Pompeii.
Wardruna released a documentary film "Tracking Birna: From Earth to Light and Earth Again" (directed by Giacomo Giorgi and Laetitia Abbenes), which maps the world tour for the album Birna - from Royal Albert Hall through the amphitheater in Pompeii to Australia and New Zealand.
On January 24, 2025, the sixth studio album Birna was released (Sony Music / By Norse Music), dedicated to the bear motif in Norse tradition, along with a DVD/Blu-ray recording of the concert Live at the Acropolis from the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens.
Wardruna announced a fall and winter 2025 tour across North America and Europe in support of the album Birna, with concerts in Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto; Chelsea Wolfe joined as a guest.
Wardruna performed at Royal Albert Hall in London (March 19, 2025) as part of the Birna world tour.
The band is confirmed for the Brutal Assault 2026 festival in Jaroměř (Czech Republic) and for concerts in Lahti and Helsinki in October 2026.
