About

Empyrium is a German band founded in 1994 by Markus Stock (alias Ulf Theodor Schwadorf) and Andreas Bach, originally from the Franconian region. Starting out in atmospheric doom metal, they gradually shifted toward neofolk and dark acoustic music, with all their work rooted in Romantic nature poetry inspired by the Rhön Mountains. Over three decades they have released six studio albums and are considered one of the defining acts on the Prophecy Productions label.
