Tubabu is a Brno-based Czech ensemble founded in 2000 that plays traditional West African percussion - djembe, dundun, sangban, kenkeni and balafon. Their repertoire draws on the musical traditions of Mande-speaking peoples, chiefly from Guinea and Mali. Led by Broňa Pavlíček, who has studied African drumming since 1996 and completed residencies in Guinea and Mali, the group is one of the pioneers of authentic djembe-dundun playing in the Czech Republic and has inspired musicians across Central Europe.
Tubabu Fila (a two-member project by Broňa Pavlíček and Jan Vlasatý) performed at Lužánky Park in Brno at the Noví kumpáni & Tubabu Fila // Ponava event (22. 7. 2025).
Tubabu Fila performed at the Cabinet MÚZ in Brno at the launch of the debut album by the band Noví kumpáni (7. 9. 2024).
Tubabu Fila also performed on 4. 7. 2025 at Ponava in Brno together with the band Noví kumpáni.
Broňa Pavlíček led a workshop for advanced drummers in Pěčín in 2016, where he taught rhythms from Guinea and Mali.
