About

Tubabu is a Brno-based Czech ensemble founded in 2000 that plays traditional West African percussion - djembe, dundun, sangban, kenkeni and balafon. Their repertoire draws on the musical traditions of Mande-speaking peoples, chiefly from Guinea and Mali. Led by Broňa Pavlíček, who has studied African drumming since 1996 and completed residencies in Guinea and Mali, the group is one of the pioneers of authentic djembe-dundun playing in the Czech Republic and has inspired musicians across Central Europe.
