Tomáš Netopil (born 1975, Přerov) is a Czech conductor who ranks among the most prominent of his generation. Since the 2025/2026 season he has been Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK); before that he spent a decade as General Music Director of Aalto Musiktheater and Philharmonie Essen (2013-2023) and served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic from 2018 to 2024. His international career was launched by winning the inaugural Sir Georg Solti Conductors' Competition in Frankfurt in 2002, and he has since appeared regularly with leading orchestras and opera houses worldwide. He is also the founder and artistic director of the International Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž.

    Netopil successfully debuted at Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he conducted Strauss's Salome (January 25 - February 14, 2026).

    Netopil opened the New Year's concert of the Prague FOK Symphony Orchestra in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House (January 1, 2026).

  • 2025-09

    From the 2025/2026 season, Netopil took the position of chief conductor and music director of the Prague FOK Symphony Orchestra.

    In the 2024/2025 season, Netopil conducted three Mozart operas: La clemenza di Tito in Geneva, The Magic Flute in Tokyo, and Don Giovanni in Cologne.

    Netopil opened the 91st FOK season with an inaugural concert in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House.
