Štěpánka Stein (born 1976, Prague) is a Czech photographer working across documentary, portrait and fashion photography. She studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (VŠUP) under Pavel Štecha and has collaborated with Salim Issa since 2001 - together they shaped the visual identity of the National Theatre and had their work selected by Taschen for Best Portfolios (2005). A multiple winner of Czech Press Photo and Czech Grand Design, she also teaches at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava.
The exhibition Little Hanoi, Next Generation - more than 70 portraits of the second generation of Vietnamese in the Czech Republic - took place from June 18 to July 11, 2026 at the Holešovická tržnice in Prague; the authors are Štěpánka Stein and Vendy Mlejnská.
The project Little Hanoi, Next Generation had its world premiere in November 2025 at the Hanoi Photo Biennale in Vietnam, where it received significant acclaim.
Štěpánka Stein was a guest on the program Noční Mikrofórum on Czech Radio Dvojka, where she spoke about her more than 25-year collaboration with Salim Issa and about the influence of artificial intelligence on photography.
