Primal Scream are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1982 by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie. Their 1991 album Screamadelica - a collision of rock, acid house and rave culture - won the inaugural Mercury Prize and remains one of the most influential British records of the decade. Across twelve studio albums, the band has moved restlessly between blues, psychedelia, industrial rock and electronic music, with Gillespie as the constant creative core.
Bassist Simone Butler left the band in January 2026.
In November 2025, Gary "Mani" Mounfield, the band's former bassist, known also from Stone Roses, died.
In June 2025, the band completed a European tour that included stops in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Cologne, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Vienna, Prague, and other cities.
In November 2024, the band released the twelfth studio album Come Ahead - the first album in eight years, produced by David Holmes.
In October 2024, the band announced a British-Irish Come Ahead Tour for spring 2025 with a total of 14 concerts.
