Paolo Fresu (born 10 February 1961 in Berchidda, Sardinia) is an Italian jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player, composer and arranger whose warm, lyrical tone has made him one of the defining voices of European jazz over four decades. Rooted in the Miles Davis cool-jazz tradition, his music draws equally on Sardinian folk heritage, classical music and electronics. He has appeared on more than 350 recordings, runs his own label Tǔk Music, and since 1988 has directed the Time in Jazz festival in his home village.
Fresu with Richard Galliano and Jan Lundgren released the album Mare Nostrum IV on the ACT Music label on March 28, 2025, the fourth part of their project about the sound of Europe.
Paolo Fresu performed with Omar Sosa at the JAZZINEC #27 festival in Trutnov (Czech Republic) on April 11-12, 2025.
The project Heroes - A Tribute to David Bowie with Petra Magoni and other musicians performed on November 27, 2025 at the Ponchielli Theatre in Cremona.
In 2026, Fresu is on tour with 16 planned concerts in two countries, with the nearest stops in Rome.
