Milan Kundera (1929–2023) was a Czech-born writer who spent much of his life in France. He is best known for novels such as The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Joke, which explore themes of memory, identity, and political power. His work has been translated into dozens of languages and is considered a landmark of 20th-century European literature.
