Michal David (born Vladimír Štancl, 14 July 1960, Prague) is a Czech pop singer, songwriter and producer who became the defining face of Czechoslovak disco in the 1980s. Hits such as Nonstop and Discopříběh have remained cultural touchstones for decades. After the Velvet Revolution he shifted focus to composing and production, writing the celebrated 1998 ice-hockey anthem for the Nagano gold-medal team. Over his career he has sold more than 3.5 million albums and written over 600 songs.
Michal David celebrated his 65th birthday with two sold-out concerts at the O2 arena in Prague (June 13 and 14, 2025), with the second date added due to extraordinary fan interest.
In March 2025, Michal David released his original album Život je náš - his first such album in thirteen years, recorded in London with Robbie Williams' band under the production of Martin Terefe.
In autumn 2025, Michal David embarked on a GLS tour of Slovakia with stops in Bratislava, Košice, and Banská Bystrica.
In September 2024, he released the single Náš cíl, which he dedicated to his wife Marcela on their 40th anniversary of living together.
In July 2024, he released the first single Je mi líp as a preview of the upcoming album Život je náš.
