About

Jure Pukl is a Slovenian saxophonist and composer regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary European jazz. He studied at conservatories in Vienna and The Hague, then at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and completed a master's degree at the Graz Academy of Music. In 2015 he received Slovenia's highest arts honour, the Prešeren Fund Award. He has released more than eight albums under his own name and appeared as a sideman on over fifty projects, earning reviews in The New York Times, Downbeat and The Guardian.

  • 2025

    Pukl released the album Analog AI (Unit Records) recorded in March 2025 with pianist John Escreet, bassist Joe Sanders, and drummer Christian Lillinger.

  • 2026

    With the Analog AI project, Pukl performs a series of festival appearances in 2026 - including at JazzChurFestival in Switzerland, Petrovac Jazz Festival in Montenegro, and Skopje Jazz Festival.

  • 2024-08

    In August 2024, the album The Life Sound Pictures of Jure Pukl (Fresh Sound Records) was released with guitarist Adam Rogers, pianist Sam Harris, bassist Joe Sanders, and drummer Rudy Royston.

  • 2026

    Pukl appears as a guest on Kristina Barty's album Red Landscape (Alessa Records, Austria 2026).
