ArtCafé: Kristina Barta Quartet + Jure Pukl - Red Landscape

Kristina Barta brings her new album Red Landscape to ArtCafé, released in May 2026. The project blends contemporary jazz with themes from Czech and European cultural memory, exploring boundaries - geographical, personal, and social.

Much of the material was created during a Hortus Musicalis residency in Broumov, which shaped the album not only through the composition "Broumov" but also through the landscape and place memory that inspired it. The music moves between intimate moments like "Newborn" and "Inside the Monastery" and pieces responding to historical and contemporary events - "Prayer for Marta", "Israel 1948", and "Nese Hal'a Vodu". There is also reflection on digital alienation ("Reality") and a return to oneself ("Komme Deg Ut").

Besides Kristina Barta, the recording features Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl and Norwegian singer Tuva Hellum. In Broumov, the album will be performed by Kristina Barta (piano), Petra Brabencová (vocals), Jure Pukl (saxophones), Peter Korman (double bass), and Marek Urbánek (drums).
