ArtCafé: Radek Krampl | Vibe Fantasy
Radek Krampl is one of the most distinctive Czech vibraphonists. A student of Karel Velebný, graduate of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts, he has worked across genres throughout his career - from swing, blues and Latin through free jazz to funk and contemporary classical music. His playing can be heard on recordings by Michal Pavlíček, Roman Dragoun, Meky Žbirka and Monkey Business, as well as in projects by ASPM, Jan Spálený, Luboš Andršt and Milan Svoboda's Kontrabas.
Vibe Fantasy is Krampl's original project, celebrating thirty years this year. The current trio features guitarist Antonín Dlapa and double bassist Vít Švec. The trio's music blends soul, blues and Latin American rhythms with space for free improvisation. Alongside Krampl's own compositions, the programme includes distinctive interpretations of works by Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and Ray Charles.
