Julius Zeyer (1841–1901) was a Czech writer, poet, and playwright of the Lumír generation. His work is marked by Romanticism, Symbolism, and a fascination with mythology and exotic cultures. He was a close friend of sculptor František Bílek, with whom he shared a deep spiritual affinity. Among his notable works are the novel Ondřej Černyšev and the epic poem Vyšehrad.
