Josef Gočár (1880–1945) was a prominent Czech architect and a pioneer of Cubist and Rondo-Cubist architecture in Bohemia. He later embraced Functionalism, designing notable buildings in Hradec Králové among other cities. The Medova Villa (1933–1934) is an example of his Functionalist work.
