Jerónimo Maya is a Spanish flamenco guitarist born in 1977 in Madrid into a gitano family with deep roots in the tradition. A direct descendant of Ramón Montoya - the founding figure of flamenco guitar - he performed alongside Paco de Lucía at Carnegie Hall at the age of twelve. His playing combines technical mastery with a forward-thinking harmonic language, and he has accompanied leading cantaores including Diego el Cigala and Estrella Morente.
Jerónimo Maya Trio will perform for the first time in the Czech Republic as part of the 23rd edition of the Ibérica festival - on June 19 at the Prague Divadlo Komedie theater and on June 20 at Špilberk castle in Brno.
The Ibérica festival announced Jerónimo Maya as the first name of the 23rd edition and the show called Gitano Errante (Wandering Gypsy) as a Czech premiere.
Jerónimo Maya presented the show Gitano Errante in Madrid in collaboration with flutist Jorge Pardo, a legend of contemporary flamenco.
The album Pureza y Solera (Solera Flamenca Records) was released - a recording capturing Maya live, accompanied only by finger-click percussion, without additional instrumental arrangements.
The album Coto Cerrao (April 2022) was released, the predecessor to Pureza y Solera, also released by Solera Flamenca Records.
