HaChucpa
"The magic of klezmer lies in the fact that sadness and joy are mixed here at the same time - just as the Talmud teaches: if we are too sad, we should remember the commandment to be joyful; if we are too joyful, we should remember the destruction of the Temple and be sad..."
The HaChucpa ensemble was founded in 1997 at HaDivadlo. It was inspired by programmes previously presented at the theatre by Wolfgang Spitzbardt (M. Buber: "The Way of Man", P. Celan: "The Syllable Bol"). From the beginning, the ensemble has been led together with him by conductor and pianist Vít Mareček.
Over its existence, many people have passed through the ensemble - students from JAMU and Brno Conservatory, members of HaDivadlo, people from the Brno Jewish community, and others.
