The Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra (Janáčkova filharmonie Ostrava, JFO) is a Czech symphony orchestra based in Ostrava, tracing its roots to a radio orchestra founded in 1929 and formally established in its current form in 1971. With over a hundred musicians, it gives more than fifty home concerts a year and tours regularly across Europe, Asia and the Americas, having performed at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Vienna Musikverein and Berlin Philharmonie. Its recordings for Linn Records, Supraphon and Challenge Classics have earned the BBC Music Magazine Award and the Diapason d'Or. From the 2026-27 season, Daniel Raiskin serves as chief conductor and artistic director.
