
Dvořák Festival: Biblical Songs
A concert of Dvořák's Biblical Songs performed by mezzo-soprano Dana Šťastná and organist Michal Hanuš in a historic 17th-century timber church, part of the 70th Dvořák Festival.
Dana Šťastná (b. 1985) is a Czech mezzo-soprano who trained at Pardubice Conservatoire and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, with masterclasses under José Cura, Brigitte Fassbaender, Edita Gruberová, and at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. She won second prize at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary and made her National Theatre debut in March 2022 as Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen. Alongside her operatic work, she co-founded Trio Cimbalom, an unusual ensemble pairing mezzo-soprano with piano and cimbalom.
Dana Šťastná performed in the role of Esmeralda in the production of The Bartered Bride at the 16th Festival of Musical Theatre Opera in Prague.
In the 2022/2023 season, Dana Šťastná joined the production of Rusalka at the State Opera Prague as the Second Water Nymph.
In March 2022, Dana Šťastná made her debut on the stage of the National Theatre in the role of Mercedes in the opera Carmen.
