Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company founded in Québec in 1984 by street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix. It redefined the modern circus by replacing performing animals with narrative-driven acrobatics, live music, and theatrical stagecraft. Over four decades the company has grown to more than 20 simultaneous productions and has performed for over 378 million people across six continents.
