Ben van Oosten (born 1955, The Hague) is a Dutch organist, pedagogue and author who has become one of the world's foremost authorities on French Romantic and symphonic organ music. He is titular organist of the Grote Kerk in The Hague and artistic director of its annual International Organ Festival. His complete-works recordings of Widor, Vierne, Dupré and Franck - released mostly on the MD+G label - have earned him the Diapason d'Or, Echo Klassik and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, among other prizes. The French government named him Chevalier (1998) and Officier (2011) dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres; in 2010 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion.

    On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his work as a concert organist, Ben van Oosten received the Stadspenning - an honorary distinction of The Hague.

  • 2021-07

    Ben van Oosten concluded 27 years of teaching as principal professor of organ at Codarts (Rotterdam Conservatory), where he trained numerous domestic and international students.

  • 2024-07

    In July 2024, Ben van Oosten performed at the international concert series Bach op Zondag at Grote Kerk in Breda with a program dedicated to Leipzig.

  • 2024-09

    In September 2024, he performed an organ recital at Bonifatiuskerk in Rijswijk with works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Franck, and Guilmant.

  • 2025-05

    In May 2025, Ben van Oosten performed solo at Amsterdam's Het Orgelpark with a program featuring Widor's Symphony No. 7.
