St. Vitus Cathedral Organ Evenings 2026
The fifteenth international organ festival at St. Vitus Cathedral features world-class organists and the debut of the cathedral's new organ, with ten concert evenings from June 30 to September 1.
Cameron Carpenter (born 1981, Pennsylvania) is an American organist and composer, a Juilliard School graduate who in 2009 became the first organist ever nominated for a Grammy Award for a solo album, Revolutionary. His career has earned him the 2012 Leonard Bernstein Award along with ECHO Klassik and Opus Klassik prizes, most recently in 2020 for his Sony Classical recording of Rachmaninoff's Paganini Variations and the Poulenc Organ Concerto with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Since 2014 he has toured with the International Touring Organ - a digital instrument built to his own specifications - and his repertoire ranges from Bach and Franck to his own transcriptions of Mahler's Fifth Symphony and live improvisations for silent films.
In May 2026, Carpenter performed at the Berlin Philharmonic with Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the baton of Leonard Slatkin - the program included Barber's Toccata festiva for organ and orchestra; the concert was broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
The agency Opus 3 Artists announced representation of Carpenter for North America.
For the Decca label, he released a recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations together with his own transcription of Hanson's Symphony No. 2.
The recording of Rachmaninoff's Paganini Variations and Poulenc's Organ Concerto (Sony Classical, with Konzerthausorchester Berlin) won the Opus Klassik 2020 award.
