The baroque Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross stands on the castle hill in Litomyšl, built between 1714 and 1726 to designs by Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, with František Maxmilián Kaňka completing the work after Alliprandi's death. The church burned down four times over the centuries and after 1968 was used as a storage depot, falling into disrepair until a thorough restoration in 2011-2015 brought it back to life. It now houses the permanent exhibition of sacred art "Angels on the Hill" alongside light installations by Václav Cigler and Michal Motyčka. Concerts, services and wedding ceremonies are held here, and the viewing terrace between the towers offers a panorama of the castle and town.
