Vrchlabí

About the venue

The Roman Catholic deanery church of St. Lawrence stands on Vrchlabí's main square, on the site of a Gothic church from the 14th century. The current neo-Gothic building was constructed between 1886 and 1889 to designs by Prague architect Stephan Tragl, with a 60-metre tower dominating the façade. Inside, colourful stained-glass windows from the Viennese workshop Geylings Erben complement the 1889 Rieger brothers organ, which has nearly 1,300 pipes. The oldest object in the church is a copper baptismal font from 1566, carried over from the demolished predecessor.
