About the venue

Kino Vysočina opened in 1963 and was among the most modern cinemas in Czechoslovakia at the time. The single-screen venue seats 253 and has been updated several times - digitised in 2011, extensively rebuilt in 2017, and fitted with laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound in 2023. It is run by the municipal organisation Kultura Žďár and consistently ranks among the most-attended single-screen cinemas in the Czech Republic. Alongside its regular film programme it hosts festivals, post-screening talks and cultural broadcasts.
