Bělský les

Ostrava

About the venue

Bělský les (nicknamed Bělák or Studna) is a 160-hectare forest park spanning the cadastral areas of Stará Bělá, Zábřeh nad Odrou and Výškovice. The forest has been documented since 1272 as part of the Stará Bělá feudal estate; in 1931 the city of Ostrava bought it to secure access to springs for the municipal water supply. Today the park offers a network of paths for walkers, runners and cyclists, along with the Water Trail, a pond park, minigolf and a children's playground. On the southern edge stand the Starobělské Lurdy - a chapel built from blast-furnace slag beside a forest spring that locals have been visiting for water for over a century.
