Kytice

A stage adaptation of the collection of ballads "Kytice z pověstí národních" (1853), the most celebrated work by Karel Jaromír Erben and one of the most renowned texts of Czech literature.

The production reminds us that Erben's "Kytice" is far more than an item on a school reading list. It is poetry with a romantic spirit and a touch of horror - a book about guilt, punishment, and the laws of both humans and nature. At the same time, it is a collection of images that most of us remember to this day: a mother in her grave, a poplar by the rocks, the mysterious Christmas Eve.
