Karlstein Castle is undoubtedly one of the most significant monuments of Czech medieval heritage. Founded in 1348 by Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV as a representative residence and secure repository for the crown jewels, relics of saints, and other precious treasures, it remains a unique testament to the rich history of the Czech Kingdom.

About the venue: Liliová 5, Praha 1

The house "U Voříkovských", on the corner of Liliová and Zlatá streets, is a medieval townhouse with a history going back at least to 1329, when its owner Perchta of Dubá bequeathed it to the nearby Dominican convent. After two years of construction work, a model heritage restoration was completed in 2017 and the building became a workplace of the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ). The public can use the NPÚ's central library - specialising in art history, architecture and heritage conservation - as well as a research room and a lecture hall.
