Through the Curators' Eyes: František Kobliha - The May Cycle

A guided tour of the prints collection in the exhibition "1796-1918: Art of a Long Century" with curator Jana Mafková. The tour focuses on Kobliha's Art Nouveau woodcuts for the May cycle - one of the most celebrated illustrations of Mácha's work - and offers an opportunity to compare their melancholic expression with the dark romanticism of the original text.

The "Through the Curators' Eyes" series presents parts of the exhibition through the perspective of those who work with the collections daily. Each session concentrates on a selected body of work: the curator shares themes from their research, highlights details that are easily overlooked, and opens the presentation to dialogue with participants.
