The Faktor K festival returns to Brno's Káznice na Cejlu for the eighth time. This four-day site-specific event (22-25 September) combines performative art with a place of memory - a baroque monument, former prison, and today a cultural centre. Part of the programme has been created specifically for the historic spaces of Káznice. Each day offers theatre performances, performances, concerts and discussions - from independent collectives to student projects.

Tuesday 22 September

15:00 Imprints of Memory + How to Creatively Revive the Memory of Difficult Places
A creative conference featuring discussion and presentations from the practice and theory of contemporary memory exhibitions.

17:30 OFF Conference Programme
A block of diverse artistic performances throughout the Káznice space: vernissage by Zuzana Pernicová, performance by Becky McFadden; demonstrations of several exhibitions, audio walks and auto-theatre that will be part of the planned educational tour programme of Káznice. Dernissage of the Maruška Kudeříková memorial installation by Pavel Karous.

19:00 Prison of History
Screening of a film about the past and future of the prison in Uherské Hradiště and discussion with the creators.

Wednesday 23 September

17:00 SPOLK: Re:Membe
Presentation of a work in progress from the dance-performance workshop of the SPOLK collective.

18:00 ME-SA: Tremula
Final convulsions, dying fire... a catastrophe of the elements or an ecstatic state? A state of total happiness or immense suffering? A movement performance.

19:30 Ester Trčková and collective: Entropy
An intergenerational dance-theatre production about old age. Five dancers aged 30 to 40, four performers aged 60 to 82. Nine human bodies that would otherwise never meet so closely.

21:00 Yolda Collective: Leaving for Godot
Work in progress from a residency. Physical theatre and clowning working with departure as a constantly postponed action.

Thursday 24 September

17:00 Cucumis sensus
A production as a futuristic ritual seeking whose culture and for whom in a posthumanist world. A solo performance by performer KEIR, created as a student project.
