The Concathedral through the lens of burials with crypt visit — Konkatedrála Nanebevzetí Panny Marie, Opava

Lecturer: Petr Tesař (State Archives in Opava)

A special guided tour takes visitors into the underground spaces that served as the final resting place. Historian and archivist Petr Tesař will explain who had the privilege of being buried in the crypt of the main parish church and present the construction, history, and architecture of Opava's oldest cathedral - its origins reach back to the Middle Ages and are connected to the Order of German Knights. The tour will also clarify why the church is called a concathedral today and why it is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Estimated tour duration: 60 minutes. Meeting point in front of the church, side entrance.

Tickets are available through GOOUT, at the Municipal House reception, or on-site.
