History of the Dominican Monastery and Church of St. Wenceslas

The Church of St. Wenceslas in Opava was built in the 13th century alongside an adjacent Dominican monastery. Its interior has been exceptionally well preserved - the complex also included a cloister garden and two wells.

The tour will be led by heritage specialist Petra Kaniová from the National Heritage Institute. She will present the life of the monks, the functions of individual rooms, the significance of the frescoes, and the architectural history of the entire complex. Participants will also visit areas that are not normally accessible.

The tour begins with an introductory presentation in the former refectory at 15:30 and will last approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Tickets can be purchased via www.goout.net, at the reception of the Municipal House, or on site.
