Mezipatra: Anti-gender Movement - No Longer a Quiet Player in the Czech Republic

A discussion about the forms, actors, and growing influence of the anti-gender movement in the Czech context.

They present themselves as defenders of the traditional family and warn against "gender ideology", whatever they mean by that. As part of their agenda, they push for bans on sex education, restrictions on LGBTQ+ rights, oppose protections for women against violence, and seek to ban abortion. The anti-gender movement in Europe and the Czech Republic is growing and repeatedly finds ways to influence public policy.

The discussion will focus on how long these movements have been active in the Czech Republic, what steps they are taking, and what vision of an "ideal Czech Republic" they are promoting. The panelists will be journalist Prokop Vodrážka from Deník N, who writes reportage, social and political commentary, and social scientist Eva Svatoňová from the Department of Social Work at the University of Ostrava, who has studied the anti-gender movement extensively.
