Pavel Šporcl brings his New Year concert "Bacha na rebela" to Ostrava on Sunday, 17 January at DK Poklad. The evening concludes with a toast. Šporcl is performing eight dates across Czech cities - from Olomouc through Plzeň, Jablonec nad Nisou and Zlín to Prague, Rumburk and Klatovy. DK Poklad in Ostrava-Poruba is a cultural monument dating from 1961, built as part of the New Ostrava development. The building, designed in a classicizing style with elements of Brussels architecture, is located in Poruba at Matěje Kopeckého 675/21.

About the venue: DK Poklad

The DK Poklad house of culture in Ostrava-Poruba opened in December 1961 as part of the New Ostrava development and has been a listed cultural monument since 2009. The building, designed by architects Jiří Petrusiak, Čeněk Vorel and František Michališ in a classicising style with Brussels-style elements, features a sculptural group called Nový věk by Jan Kavan on its main façade. After a major renovation completed in August 2021, it offers a theatre hall for 400, a mini-cinema, a ballroom, and the open-air Amfi amphitheatre behind the building with 1,700 seats. Theatre, cinema, concerts and the venue's own festivals - including Amfifest and the food festival Velká žranice - all take place here.

About: Pavel Šporcl

Born on 25 April 1973 in České Budějovice, Pavel Šporcl is a Czech violin virtuoso trained at the Prague Conservatory, HAMU, and in the United States with Itzhak Perlman and Dorothy DeLay. He stands as the sole Czech violinist of his generation included in Henry Roth's Violin Virtuosos: From Paganini to the 21st Century and was awarded the Czech Medal of Merit in 2015. Playing an iconic blue violin crafted by Jan Špidlen, he has sold more than 230,000 CDs and performed on major stages worldwide including Carnegie Hall and Suntory Hall.

Šporcl released the rock album Rebel with the Blue Violin (Universal Music, 2024) and in April 2025 presented it with a concert at the Prague Municipal House.

In an interview with Czech Radio Radiožurnál, Šporcl explained why he turned to rock after fifty and how instrumental versions of rock hits work without vocals.
