Postřižiny is a film adaptation of the same-titled source material. Francin is the manager of a brewery in a small Czech town. His wife Maryška enchants the surroundings with her vivacity – especially the doctor Gruntorad and members of the board. Their lives are disrupted by Francin's eccentric and loud brother Pepin, who finds a kindred spirit in Maryška. Francin tries in vain to counter their crazy ideas: a trip to the brewery chimney, a radical shortening of the dining table legs, and finally even Maryška's long hair, which the whole town admires.
