Jiří Schmitzer (born 25 October 1949, Prague) is a Czech actor, singer-songwriter and composer, the son of actor Jiří Sovák. After graduating from DAMU in 1974 he joined the Činoherní studio in Ústí nad Labem, and from 1985 has been a member of Studio Ypsilon in Prague. He is a four-time Czech Lion Award winner for Best Actor, for the films Bumerang (1997), Beauty in Trouble (2006), Jako nikdy (2013) and Old-Timers (2019). Alongside his acting career he performs as a singer-songwriter with a twelve-string guitar, describing his music as acoustic-punk.
Schmitzer has a concert planned for June 2026 in Radotín (Centrum Koruna, 18.6.2026).
In February 2025, Schmitzer performed a recital in Šumperk (House of Culture).
At the Benátská! festival in Liberec (July 2024), Schmitzer felt unwell during his performance due to extreme heat; after resting backstage, he performed a second concert the same day at Houska Castle.
In February 2024, Schmitzer performed together with Vojtaan at a joint concert at Malostranská beseda in Prague.
