The opening concert of the "Meetings of Genres" series features singer-songwriter Pavel Čadek, who combines original compositions with cello playing in a style he calls "cellofolk".

His songs blend intelligent humour, poetic language, and strong emotion.

About: Pavel Čadek

Born on 28 December 1989 in Brno, Pavel Čadek is a Czech singer-songwriter whose distinctive approach involves accompanying his vocals with cello. He describes this self-created genre, which he terms cellofolk, as a fusion between Jaromír Nohavica and Apocalyptica. Though educated in theoretical computer science at Masaryk University, he ultimately pursued music as his primary profession. Among his four studio albums, Stepní vlk (2023) earned a shortlist nomination for the Anděl Award in the folk category.
