Grails DJ set (USA)

Alex Hall and Emil Amos, producers of Grails for 25 years, perform as DJs under the pseudonym Lilacs & Champagne, bringing their bizarre sampling experiments to Brno for one night.

Grails' latest album Miracle Music builds an exotic world of minimalist sound sculptures, half-inspired by horror, half strangely sentimental. Their most recent work as Lilacs & Champagne - Fantasy World - embraced soft television music and children's choirs that conjure the darkest material the duo has ever recorded.

Lilacs & Champagne previously worked primarily in the realm adjacent to instrumental hip-hop of Madlib and MF Doom; now their work draws closer to playful creators of tape collages like Negativland and Severed Heads.
