Jizerské Mountains Exhibition

An exhibition of photographs and paintings by Alex Beran dedicated to the Jizerské Mountains, held in the monastery spaces in Hejnice near the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The exhibition runs from May 1 to May 10, 2026, and is part of the rich cultural programme that Hejnice offers annually during the pilgrimage season. The Hejnice Monastery is an independent ecclesiastical legal entity established by the Litoměřice Diocese and is housed in a former Franciscan monastery building from 1696, which has undergone renovation with a focus on barrier-free access. The monastery complex with the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Bohemia, nicknamed the Czech Mariazell. Inside the basilica is a Gothic sculpture of the Black Madonna from 1380, the family tomb of the Galla lords, and an exhibition of the Hejnice Nativity Scene from the 18th century.
