Workshop - First Steps on the Path of Tea

This workshop is part of the Tanabata 2026 event, taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026 in Zámecký park Dolní Počernice. Workshop tickets can be purchased in advance.

The class is led by Markéta Sókei Reiter Fujita, a certified teacher of the Urasenke school, who has devoted more than thirty years to the tea ceremony. Over approximately 30 minutes, participants will explore the Japanese Way of Tea (sadó) and practice the fundamental skills taught to beginning students in Japan: how to properly receive a bowl of tea and thank the host, basics of etiquette and traditional seating, folding the silk cloth fukusa, handling tea utensils, and the basic preparation of warigeiko.

The workshop is designed for complete beginners and anyone who wants to experience Japanese culture actively. Capacity is 6 participants. Participants are asked to arrive at the Tea Ceremony booth 5 minutes before their chosen time slot and have their QR code ready.
