What Remains of Love

In autumn, purple heather blooms on Iceland's highlands - and similarly, the bittersweet end comes to the relationship between Magnus and Anna. Vast meadows are the source of Anna's artistic work, while Magnus, a hired fisherman, spends much of the year battling the wild sea. Shared moments with three teenage children and a dog are filled with subtle tension.

As time passes, recriminations give way to reconciliation, and old disputes can suddenly be viewed with humor and understanding. Director Hlynur Pálmason reveals through his distinctive cinematic poetry how much of value can remain from love, even when it seemed everything was gone.
