The Love That Remains

On a picturesque Icelandic plateau, the relationship between Magnus and Anna reaches its bittersweet end. Vast meadows serve as inspiration for Anna's art, while Magnus, working as a fisherman, spends much of the year on a turbulent sea. Shared moments with three teenagers and a dog are filled with subtle tension.

Yet as time passes, reproaches give way to reconciliation, and quarrels can suddenly be viewed with humor and understanding. Director Hlynur Pálmason uses his cinematic poetry to show how much of value can remain from love, even when it seemed everything was already gone.
