Black Partisan — Kulturák NMnM, Nové Město na Moravě

"Those people beyond Nové Město, they were the best from the entire republic... They took me in, gave me the food they ate. They invited me under the roof where they slept. Everyone could have gone to their death, but everyone helped. I don't know what made them think that I could be the commander and organize the first partisan group." A production by the Minor theatre based on the true story of Czech Romani hero Josef Serinek. Josef Serinek was a Czech Rom who used the codename "Black" during the war. As a soldier, he fought in World War I; in World War II he was imprisoned in the Léty concentration camp, from which he escaped and joined the anti-Nazi resistance. He later became a partisan commander, and his unit operated in the Vysočina region. He was meant to be forgotten, as were the events he participated in... Come with us in the footsteps of the Black Partisan, let us together experience a true western from Vysočina! "I grew into the forest. I was the forest. I was the forest and the forest was me..." The main inspiration and source material for the production is the three-volume publication Czech Romani Rhapsody (Josef Serinek, Jan Tesař) from Triáda publishers, as well as handwritten notes from Josef Serinek's childhood, made available to Minor by the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno. The production is patronized by Zdeněk Serinek - grandson of Josef Serinek. Suitable for audiences aged 9 and up. Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes including intermission.
