POLY NOIR & THE HOLY SPIRIT SMUGGLERS + MAGICKÁ NOC
For everyone who feels Christmas started in October, has heard "jingle bells" more times than their own conscience, and finds themselves rooting for Freddy Krueger at the sight of another ad full of happy families - Kulturák has a solution. No fairy lights, carols without angels, and no obligation to pretend this is the most wonderful time of year. Poly Noir, the dark western project of Poly from Insania, will take you to a landscape where dust, ash, and coming to terms with fate are far more credible than Christmas ads. Dark country, noir western, melancholy, sarcasm, and stories that definitely don't end with "and they all lived happily ever after". The evening will be completed by Magická noc, a project continuing the legacy of Mejla Hlavsa and Plastic People of the Universe. Underground in electronic guise will remind us that some things survive everything - regimes, trends, and seasonal sales. If you've had enough of obligatory joy, come enjoy an evening where darkness is part of the programme and melancholy isn't a side effect. But the music is great, that's for sure. Yeah, we're all looking forward to Jesus :-) Amen
POLY NOIR is a new dark country/noir western project by guitarist and vocalist Poly from the crossover-metal stalwart INSANIA. The first songs were created back in 2018, and Poly acknowledges influences from dark masters like Ennio Morricone, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Mark Lanegan, and "poet of doom" Cormac McCarthy. In November 2024, the album "K mýmu ohni nesedej" (Smile Music rec.) is released, which is premiered at the end of 2024 in Brno at Kabinet múz and in Prague at club Cross. For live performances, the band THE HOLY SPIRIT SMUGGLERS was formed, whose members are Poly (vocals, guitar), Tom Šlápota (bass), Jan Fic (guitar), David Horák (drums). Tom Šlápota plays in the band Dark Gamballe. As author and producer, he has worked on soundtracks for games Vietcong 1, 2, Mafia 2, and many other award-winning projects. Jan Fic is a respected blues guitarist, singer-songwriter, and maker of Red Bird Instruments guitars.
