The travelling exhibition "Man and Tin – Archaeological Evidence of Tin Mining in the Ore Mountains" runs from 3 April to 28 June 2026 in the Riding Hall of Teplice Castle (Zámecké nám. 517/14, Teplice). It was created as part of the Czech-German research project ArchaeoTin (Archaeology in World Heritage – Landscapes of Tin Mining), funded by EU sources through the Interreg Sachsen–Tschechien 2021–2027 programme. The exhibition presents the results of interdisciplinary research into tin mining in the Ore Mountains from the Bronze Age to modern times – spanning approximately 4,000 years – in an interactive format. Visitors can explore the world of scientific methods: discover what experts see under a microscope, how wood dating using tree rings works, or what conclusions can be drawn about climate change. Eight accompanying films illustrate the scientific work. On display are, for example, three tin ingots from a shipwreck sunk off the Netherlands. The tour concludes with a 3D projection showing how the landscape transformed due to mining. The exhibition is under the patronage of Richard Brabec, Governor of the Ústí Region. The project includes a rich supporting programme: lectures (Tin Ore Mountains – Michal Urban; History Written in Peatlands – Libor Petr; Archaeological Research of Placer Deposits – Kryštof Derner; Tin Stories – Jitka Bažantová; Miners' Castles in Czech Switzerland – František Gabriel) and an all-day tin jewellery-making workshop (6 June, advance booking required at kolorencova@zamek-teplice.cz). The museum has also prepared a special educational programme for schools. The exhibition culminates in an expert conference on 9–10 June 2026.
