Regional Museum in Teplice

Teplice

About the venue

The Regional Museum in Teplice has been housed in the château on Zámecké náměstí since 1947, though the site's history goes back to the 12th century, when Queen Judith founded a Benedictine convent here. The Clary-Aldringen family owned the château from 1634 to 1945 and gave it its current classicist appearance. Permanent exhibitions cover the prehistory of northwestern Bohemia, Gothic and Baroque art, spa culture, and local ceramics and glassmaking; the tour also includes a remarkably well-preserved Romanesque crypt. The museum's collections hold nearly two million objects.
