Orwell: 2+2=5

A feature-length documentary by director Raoul Peck that examines totalitarian regimes through the work of George Orwell. The film focuses on the final months of Orwell's creative output and traces the roots of the disturbing concepts the writer revealed to the world in his dystopian texts.

At the center of attention stands Orwell's most famous anti-utopian novel 1984, whose equation 2+2=5 illustrates the manipulative power of politicians. Orwell wrote in it: "Whoever controls the past controls the future: whoever controls the present controls the past."

The film relates these ideas to contemporary socio-political realities.
