About

Josef Stalin (1878–1953) was the Soviet dictator who ruled the USSR from the late 1920s until his death. His totalitarian regime was marked by mass repression, the Gulag system, and a pervasive cult of personality. He is widely regarded as one of the key real-world inspirations behind Orwell's dystopian fiction.
