Oman: The Sultan's Arab Switzerland

Over the past half-century under Sultan Qaboos's rule, Oman has undergone a remarkable transformation. Unlike neighbouring Dubai, which bets on skyscrapers and ski slopes in shopping malls, Oman builds on tradition and authenticity — deserted beaches, colourful deserts, towering mountains, ancient villages surrounded by palm groves, and traditional livestock markets.
