GEISSLERS HOFCOMOEDIANTEN: Jedem s medem! is a three-part street puppet performance inspired by the sculptures at Kuks (Virtues and Vices and others) by Matyas Bernard Braun. Wandering comedians perform with large wooden marionettes on a wagon.
The performance consists of three parts: Part 1. – A staged street ballad about a widow from Jaromere who committed a terrible deed out of desperation and was punished for it. Part 2. – A balladic mini-musical about a maiden who resisted temptations, only to vainly desire to succumb to vice in her old age. Part 3. – A folk puppet play about the rise and fall of King David, a story of power and humility.
The performance was created as part of the project "Sculpture as Puppet – Theatre Park", whose main output is the Puppet Gallery in the Comoedien-Haus space in Kuks. The exhibition is based on puppets by Jiri Nachlinger according to the cycle of Virtues and Vices sculptures by M. B. Braun. The project was initiated by Prof. Stanislav Bohadlo in collaboration with the THEATRUM KUKS festival; inspiration came from the inscription of Czech puppetry on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage.
