The Amazing World of Sand – Giant Sand Sculptures at Doksy Castle 2026
Zámek Doksy, Doksy
The Amazing World of Sand is an exhibition of giant sand sculptures located in a former gymnasium building in the castle park in the center of Doksy near Máchova Lake. The exhibition is created by sculptor Tomáš Bosambo, a world-renowned artist, and his wife Eva Burešová, former mayor of Doksy. The exhibition features more than 10 large sand sculptures and sculptural groups depicting notable Czech personalities, characters from local legends, and figures from fairy tales. The sculptures reach heights of up to 4 meters and are created from approximately 100 tons of sand and 6 tons of water without chemical additives. Each sculpture has its own story closely connected to the history and landscape of the Máchova region – visitors can see, for example, Emperor Charles IV, poet Karel Hynek Mácha with Bezděz Castle, the Wallenstein family group, or the legendary Lake Queen. The exhibition also includes a giant sandbox where visitors can try their hand at creating their own sculptures. The exhibition is open Friday to Sunday in June and September, and daily during summer holidays. In April, it is accessible to school groups by prior arrangement. Admission: 130 CZK adults, 70 CZK children, 370 CZK family ticket.
